Passenger Ferry Accidents, Bangladesh

As a result of the collapse of river passenger ferry in southern Bangladesh, killing at least 62 people, most of them women and children. Account missing are hundreds. Most of the passengers were directed to celebrate the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha. 

The accident occurred on the river near the town of Tetulia Lalmohan, 300 km from the capital of Bangladesh. 

At the shore the vessel suddenly heeled over and the decks were partially flooded. Many people remain locked in the holds. Currently, the site of the accident rescue work. 

According to one version, the cause of the disaster could be the overloading of the vessel. All on board were about fifteen thousand people 
more than double the allowable. 

When approaching the coast the bulk of the passengers moved to one side, resulting in centering of the vessel was broken and it turned upside down.
