CLIMATE & SEASON: The climate is subtropical with temperatures ranging from a day time low of 12°C in the cold season to a maximum 38°C in the summer with an average annual rainfall of 78.8 inches. The country has six seasons. They are Winter, Spring, Summer, Rainy, Autumn and Late Autumn. Winter is a pleasant season when average maximum and minimum temperatures are 26.5°C and 13.5°C respectively. But the best season for the tourists is from October -March. However, the rainy season has got its own charm for the tourists.
CURRENCY: The unit is Taka, made up of 100 paisa. The present rate of exchange is about one US$ equivalent to Taka 70 (info: Aug, 2006).
CUSTOMS: Tourists can bring in personal effects, 200 cigarettes and one liter of liquor free of duty. They can bring any amount of foreign exchange in the form of Travelers Chouse and notes. No declaration is required up to US$ 5000.
PASSPORT AND VISA: A valid passport is required for all nationals. Before traveling to Bangladesh a valid entry visa is also required for all nationals except for some countries (refer to www. bangladeshtourism.org) which can be obtained from the Bangladesh Embassy/Mission abroad.
