1 May, 1886 American workers organized a strike demanding 8-hour day. The strike and accompanying demonstrations, ending bloody clashes with police.In July 1889 II International Congress of Paris, in memory of the speech, workers of Chicago, decided to hold the annual May 1 demonstrations. The first day of international solidarity of workers was in 1890 in Austro-Hungary, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Italy, the United States, France, Norway, Sweden and some other countries.

May Day has long been a symbol of revolution, the irreconcilable class struggle. This holiday is marked in 66 countries.
